During her 20 years as a professional entertainer, Merelyn has fitted in more life than many of us do in a lifetime. She is a Singer, Song Writer and Story Teller, Wife and Mother, Golden Guitar Winner, APRA Award Winner, triple CMAA Entertainer of the Year, she has 8 National Country Music #1 hits and 5 Award Winning Albums, She is Video Producer/Director, Teacher and an Actor. She was also part of an innovative new magazine called Real Beauty which celebrated the real woman and steered us away from the gloss and false glamour of much of our magazine and television industry. She teaches music and performance all around Australia, to adults, youth and children. But at times it has not been easy - divorce, single motherhood, family rejection, building a career in a male dominated industry, ill health and a major car accident. Through all of this Merelyn found her voice, discovered herself and liked what she saw. This has led her on a remarkable journey, one which has brought across her path many hurting men and women who have opened their hearts inspiring her to share her own story. Living in Kinglake found Merelyn and husband David in the centre of the Black Saturday Fires of February 7th, 2009. With much of their property burnt, they managed to save their home and animals, but they fought hard and long and share the devastating effects of these fires with their local mountain communities. Merelyn was also in the Ash Wednesday fires with her parents on February 16th, 1983. She jokes that if there is ever another really bad fire, stick with her as she fought and survived the two worst in Australian history!

women in focus The Diamond Valley
Baptist Women in Focus group wishes to express our thanks for your
involvement in our ‘End-of-Year Breakfast at the Plenty Ranges Arts and
Convention Centre in November 2009. It is our aim to support and encourage
the women of our Church and the surrounding community through such
activities. Although the year
commenced on such an incredibly sad note with
the devastation of the worst bushfires ever experienced in
Victoria, it was great to come to a point where we could celebrate by featuring award
winning Kinglake Country singers ‘Carter and Carter’ . Your choice of material was absolutely appropriate
and your sincerity and engaging personalities gave an inspiring message of
hope to the 170 women present. You not only displayed enormous talent, but also
provided immense joy in engaging your audience. Our event was greatly enriched
by the involvement of
your bright and professional presentation. Jan Ellis – Ministry Leader DVBC Women
