Last year, David and Merelyn were caught in the dreadful Black Saturday Bushfires with their home being in the middle of the devastated Kinglake area. Merelyn and David stayed and along with their neighbours defended their homes and were fortunate enough to survive. After the event they were asked to perform the newly re-written 'I Am Australian' at the National Memorial Day as representatives of the bushfire survivors.  Their experience led them to write the single 'Surviving Black Saturday' and release their latest album Carter & Carter Special Edition which features this and another new song "Trust Me' plus 7 live acoustic tracks of their previous hits.

 
This year has already seen them with two Golden Guitar Nominations and a win at the Victorian & National Country Music Awards for their song 'Surviving Black Saturday'.

David and Merelyn would like to thank everyone who has sent prayers, best wishes, gifts and more after the horrific fires that affected their property and community in February.  About 1/2 of their property in Kinglake burnt, but they were home at the time and fought the fire to save their home and all of their animals.  They were also very lucky.   They were hit by two separate fronts over the course of the evening and night.  They continued to fight spot fires for 25 days after the fire until rain came.
 
In the weeks since the fire, although David and Merelyn have not been able to respond personally to all of the contacts that have been made to them, they deeply appreciate the love and support they have felt from all around the world.
 
They are currently 'getting on with it', repairing damage and helping to rebuild their property and community.
 
Please support the bushfire appeal by purchasing the single I AM AUSTRALIAN released by Sony featuring new verses written by Bruce Woodley especially for the memorial service on the National Day of Mourning.  Carter & Carter were invited to perform this song with Bruce and daughter Claire Woodley at the National Day of Mourning service at Rod Laver Arena.  All proceeds go to the bushfire appeal.  Ask at your local record store or go on line to purchase.
